SpeakUp Eswatini wants everyone — including people who are differently abled / have diverse needs — to be able to use speakupeswatini.com (the “Website”) to learn about our programmes and get in touch with us. This statement explains what we have done, what we are still working on, and how to tell us if something isn’t working for you.
1. Our commitment
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA wherever reasonably possible. This is a goal we work towards on an ongoing basis, not a formal certification — we have not commissioned an independent, third-party accessibility audit of this Website.
2. What we have done
As part of preparing this Website for launch, we carried out an internal accessibility review and made a number of concrete improvements, including:
- Adding visible keyboard focus indicators sitewide, so that people navigating by keyboard rather than a mouse can see which link or button is currently selected — tested using real keyboard navigation, not just automated checks
- Correcting the heading structure in our site footer, so that screen readers and other assistive technology encounter a logical, predictable order of headings on every page
- Adding descriptive alternative text to key images, including our logo, so that screen reader users understand what they represent
- Reviewing text and background colour combinations across the site for sufficient contrast
3. Known limitations
We are aware of specific areas that still need attention, and we are working on them:
- One brand colour combination used in places on the Website does not yet meet WCAG AA contrast requirements; a decision on updating this is pending
- Not every image on the Website has been individually reviewed for descriptive alternative text
- This Website has not been tested with every screen reader and assistive technology combination, or by users with lived disability experience
4. Feedback
If you experience any difficulty using this Website, or have suggestions for how we can make it more accessible, please let us know. We take accessibility feedback seriously and will do our best to address genuine barriers.

5. Ongoing work
Accessibility is not a one-time project. We plan to keep reviewing and improving this Website over time as we add new content and features.
