Privacy Policy

Last updated: 3 July 2026

SpeakUp Eswatini (“SpeakUp”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is a private workforce readiness organisation based in Mbabane, Eswatini. We prepare young people for work, entrepreneurship, and life through a structured, practical learning pathway, and we partner with organisations that share that goal. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through speakupeswatini.com (the “Website”), why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and what rights you have over it.

This Policy applies to visitors to the Website, and to anyone who contacts us, enquires about our programmes, or expresses interest in partnering with us through the Website. It does not cover information we may collect offline, for example during in-person training sessions, which is governed by our internal operational procedures.

2. Information we collect

We collect personal information in the following ways:

Information you give us directly

When you use the contact form on our Website, we ask for your name, email address, and the content of your message. If you enquire about partnering with us or our programmes elsewhere on the Website, we collect whatever information you choose to include in that enquiry.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our Website and the form software we use may automatically record limited technical information when you submit a form or browse the site, such as your IP address and browser/device information. We use this only to operate the Website securely and to prevent abuse of our forms, not to build advertising profiles.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies to run the Website and to remember your cookie preferences. Full details are in our Cookie Policy.

3. Why we collect it, and our legal basis

We use your personal information to:

  • Respond to enquiries submitted through the Website, including questions about our programmes and partnership opportunities
  • Operate, secure, and improve the Website
  • Keep a record of our correspondence with you, where appropriate
  • Comply with our legal obligations

We process this information on the basis of your consent (for example, when you voluntarily submit the contact form) and, where relevant, our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and operating a functioning website, in a manner that does not override your own rights and freedoms. Where the law requires your explicit consent for a particular use, we will ask for it.

4. How we share your information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may share it only with:

  • Service providers who help us run the Website, such as our website hosting, form, and email-delivery providers, and only to the extent needed for them to provide that service to us
  • Authorities or third parties where we are legally required to disclose information, or where necessary to protect our rights, our users, or the public

Some of the service providers who support this Website may process information on servers located outside Eswatini. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information continues to receive an appropriate level of protection, consistent with Sections 32 and 33 of the Data Protection Act, 2022.

5. How long we keep your information

We retain contact form submissions and related correspondence for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your enquiry and for a limited period afterwards for record-keeping purposes, after which it is deleted or anonymised, unless a longer period is required by law or is necessary to establish, exercise, or defend a legal claim.

6. How we protect your information

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the personal information we hold, including access controls, secure hosting, and regular software updates. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children’s privacy

Some of the young people SpeakUp Eswatini works with through our programmes are under 18. This Website itself is a general information and enquiry channel — it is used for browsing, learning about our programmes, and submitting general enquiries or partnership interest through our contact form. It is not how learners are enrolled into our programmes. Enrolment, and any related consent for things like assessment recordings or promotional use of a learner’s image, is handled separately and directly, in person or through our partner institutions, using SpeakUp Eswatini’s own dedicated consent and safeguarding procedures — not through this Website. If you are a parent, guardian, or institution with questions about how we handle a young person’s information within our programmes, please contact us at info@speakupeswatini.com.

8. Your rights under the Data Protection Act, 2022

Eswatini’s Data Protection Act, 2022 gives you a number of rights over your personal information, which we honour. You have the right to:

  • Ask us whether we hold personal information about you, and to access it
  • Ask us to correct personal information that is inaccurate, outdated, or incomplete
  • Ask us to delete personal information that is no longer needed, or that was collected or processed unlawfully
  • Object to your personal information being used in certain ways, including for any decision based solely on automated processing
  • Withdraw consent you previously gave us, at any time, for processing that relies on consent

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@speakupeswatini.com. We aim to respond to legitimate requests within 30 days, in line with the Act.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your personal information, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Eswatini Communications Commission (ESCCOM), which acts as Eswatini’s national Data Protection Authority under the Data Protection Act, 2022.

9. International visitors

While our primary obligations are under Eswatini law, we design our data practices around widely recognised privacy principles, such as collecting only what we need, being clear about why we collect it, and giving you control over your information. This Policy is not a certification of compliance with any specific foreign law, such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR); visitors from other jurisdictions may have additional rights under their own local law.

10. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time, for example as our Website, services, or the law change. We will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page when we do. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically.
